Steel Pipes and Industrial Lines

Designed in the style of high tech architecture, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, France is a stop not to be missed on the itinerary. The ultra industrial fixtures lining the building throughout makes for a statement against the rest of Parisian architecture. A relatively young building for Europe, the Pompidou was built over six years from 1971-1977. It included the architecture trio: Richard Rogers, Renzo Piano, and Gianfranco Franchini. Arriving to the exhibits takes you through a maze of vertical see-thru tubes. Escalator upon escalator to the top floor, one is finally rewarded with a spectacular view of the city.

Sans Flash

Unlike many art museums in Europe, visitors are allowed to take pictures (without flash of course). This opens up enormous possibilities for bloggers and art connoisseurs alike. The museum is a welcoming space, open for lounging and passing hours appreciating history.

Works from the likes of Salvador Dalì, Jackson Pollock, Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Andy Warhol, Pablo Picasso, and Juan Mirò, to name a few, spectacularly complete the walls. With over 100,000 works, the Pompidou can take hours to fully discover. Everything from new media, installations, drawings, experimental film, architecture, photography, and industrial design can occupy any viewer.

Museum Finds

In addition to the spectacular art and design media, part of what makes the experience worthwhile is observing the people who attend from all over the world. Art is so subjective and each person that walks through the doors will appreciate different aesthetics. Just as people are individualistic, so is art, and so is opinion. Their age, how they’re dressed, how they carry themselves, and where they pause to take a second look at an art piece says something about the individual.

To find inspiration for fashion, one should consider looking at how people are dressed in art museums. Often they are individualistic in how they present themselves. Each one searching to proclaim a certain identity.
